 Approval of Minutes:

Jim Novotny made a motion to approve the January 9, 2008 as presented.  Seconded by Joe Shabbott.  The motion was unanimously approved.

Committee Reports:  Administration, Cursillo, and Theresians:  Not submitted

Unfinished Business:  Vicky Shabbott reported on the pictorial directory.  We had 6 appointment dates with 184 families actually getting pictures taken out of 221 families that made appointments.   We tried to get makeup dates for pictures, but none were available until April.  Decided to get dates of other parishes in our area to have parishioners get their pictures taken to be placed in our directory.  Vicky Shabbott stated that at this time we have 16 activity pages available to us for the directory.  The council discussed whether we should go with a hardcover or soft cover directory.  The hardcover will take an additional 4 to 5 months for printing.  The motion was put on the floor by Joe Shabbott to have hardcover directories printed.  Mary Ann Cronin seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved.

New Business:  Jim Novotny proposed the possibility of buying a T.V./ Camera system to be used during crowded Masses such as Easter and Christmas.  This system would allow parishioners to view the Mass while being seated in the overflow hall. Jim Novotny stated that this project would go a long way towards reaching visitors of St. Therese to become possible registered members. The projector would cost approximately $600.00 to $1000.00. The cost of the camera is not known at this time.  The topic was opened for discussion and one of the concerns brought forward was who would fund this project? Jim Novotny motioned to have the budget for the Staff Administration Business expenses to add an accounting line to include this system with a cost not to exceed $2000.00.  Al Vela seconded the motion.  The motion was unanimously approved.

Other Business Items from Council Members:

Mary Ann Cronin gave an update on the BeFriender Ministry as follows:

The regional BeFriender Ministry Advisory Council is hosting the annual Winter Seminar for all BeFrienders on Saturday March 8, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Richmond from 8:30 to 1:00.  Fr. Mark Lane is the quest speaker the subject being “Renewing My Ministerial Growth” The next Foundation training for the BeFriender Coordinators, which Roxanne Heffron will attend, will be held in August.  We hope to get the already commissioned Ministers organized before that time to serve the Parish.  Fr. Jim has requested that Roxanne Heffron speak at all the liturgies to remind the parishioners that there is a working BeFriender Ministry in the parish at this time, as well as informing new parishioners of the Ministry.

Jim Novotny gave an update on the upcoming Parish Council election. The program in the bulletin will run until the elections.  All Parish Council Members agreed to ask 2 to 3 parishioners who they felt would be a good candidate to run for the Parish Council.  Jim Novotny stated we would ask the same question to the candidates as last year and the responses by the candidates would be posted on the bulletin board for all parishioners to read.

Linda Deptola led the council in the approval of the 2008-2009 ministry budgets.  All budgets were approved unanimously with the exception of 2  which will be reevaluated by the Parish Council after further review.
