FINANCE COUNCIL Prepares the annual budget and assists the pastor and the parish staff in administration of the temporal goods of the parish.
Council The finance council is appointed by the pastor, in writing, for staggered terms of three years. Members must be in full communion with the Catholic Church and possess expertise in financial matters. Finance councils shall consist of at least five members of the parish community, meet at least monthly, and archive written minutes of meetings. Council Members: Fr. Annual Report The finance council is to assist the pastor in preparation of the annual accounting of ecclesiastical goods to the faithful and to the Bishop per Canon law (C.1297, #1). Due annually by to the Bishop by August 15th. Budget The finance council is to assist the pastor in preparation of the annual balanced budget for revenue and expenses needed to manage programs, goals, objectives, and the mission of the parish. (C. 1284 #3). Due annually to the Bishop by May 15th. Offertory Counters These teams of at least 2 unrelated persons are appointed by the pastor, on a rotating schedule to count the donations, record deposits, and provide documentation of cash receipts from the offertory and any special collections.
