Planning Committee Meeting

Minutes 8/21/07

 

Present: Paul Fitzpatrick, Cheryl Davis, Jim Wezensky, Fr Jim, Larry Tewey, Charlie & Mary Alice Woerner, Chuck & Mary Lou Villa, John Wynne, Jim Lee 

Absent: Ray Beattie, Barb Burg, Debbie Knarr, Nadine McGrady

 Jim Lee led with an opening prayer.

The information presented by Dixon Studios was reviewed and a decision was made to not sign a contract with them at this time. It was decided that it would be better to hire an architect to develop a master plan for the entire project before contracting with a firm such as Dixon Studios for interior design plans. The committee will interview prospective architects with the idea of hiring one to develop a master plan which would encompass changes to the existing property and a design for a new building to house church offices and classrooms to be built on the site of the current learning center.

 A subcommittee was formed to be headed by Larry Tewey which will oversee the planning and building process. Larry will contact diocesan approved architects and set up appointments for the committee to Interview them.

The committee's goal Is to interview architects and have a master plan developed by the end of September.

 Another subcommittee headed by Fr. Cowles will develop a job description for the Coordinator of Volunteer Ministries position.

Cheryl Davis and Chuck Villa agreed to make the responses to the Vision Statement available to the parish via both a bulletin inserted summary and the parish website. A binder containing summaries of the work of the Planning Committee will also be developed and made available in the Commons for parishioners to read.

The next meeting is scheduled for Sept 17th 2007.

(WWBF) Highlighted items included: the parish wants a paid youth minister for the youth ministry program, improve communications, improve liturgies, improve service/stewardship.  Recommendations were suggested to include adding a staff person to coordinate all stewardship since major committees do not presently have chairpeople like Justice & Peace, and Parish Community Life.
