RELIGIOUS EDUCATION GENERAL INFORMATION
REGISTRATION: Registration is conducted in August and September on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during regular office hours (9:00 AM – 2:00 PM). Forms may be picked up in the Religious Education Office and filled out directly or returned at a later date. All children from first grade through eleventh are expected to attend religious education classes either here at St. Therese or attending Catholic School. Although there is no formal curriculum for seniors, they are encouraged to volunteer in the Religious Education program. For First Holy Communion and Confirmation - a copy of the student's Baptismal Certificate must accompany the registration form. HOMESCHOOL FAITH FORMATION: Decisions to Home School Religious Education should be stated in writing and addressed to both the Pastor and the Religious Education Coordinator. Curriculum materials and review schedule will then be discussed. BOOKS: The STUDENTS are responsible for the care of their books and the return of all supplies needed for class. Parents will be notified if the student does not have his/her text for two consecutive classes. If the text is lost, the parents are responsible for the purchase fee of a new text. TUITION: This fee covers religious education textbooks. Tuition is due at the time of registration. Rates are the following: 1 student - $25.00 2 or more students - $35.00 EMERGENCY CLOSING: There will be a team of contact catechists to notify families by phone if the Religious Education classes need to be cancelled prior to scheduled attendance, due to inclement weather or other emergencies. We will notify the local radio station, WXGM to also announce the closing. ATTENDANCE: Students are expected to maintain regular, consistent attendance throughout the year. However, it is understood that once in a great while, due to illness or life in general, classes will be missed. Parents are expected to contact the student’s Catechist to find out what was covered during their child’s absence and bring them up to date. If a child is absent for a prolonged period of time, it is the responsibility of the parent to contact Nadine McGrady. Likewise it is the parent’s responsibility to insure that their child is in class on time and picked up promptly after class. PLEASE NOTE Students who leave early MUST bring a note from home with a contact phone number and the parent must come in and sign their child out for the day. Students without notes or parents will not be allowed to leave the building. Safe Environment committee members will be notified of early dismissals and the person to be met.
